Change Sd Card Serial Number

A serial number is an identifying code assigned to the hardware during the creation of a file system for unique identification and licensing. Besides the SD card, other electronic data storage devices such as USB flash drive, memory cards, hard disk drive also have such a number.
The serial number does not need to be strictly numerical. Instead, it is determined by the data and time on the real-time clock on the current computer at the time when you format the hard drive. So they may contain letters and other typographical symbols, or may consist entirely of a character string.
The function of the SD card serial number is similar to the fingerprint of persons: identify a specific item. To check or read the serial number on your storage device, you can execute the command: dir [driveletter:] in the Command Prompt window.
As mentioned above, the disk serial number is automatically generated and assigned when you format the partition, so you can format it again to change the serial number of the SD card. After you format the SD card, you can retype the command to check whether the serial number is changed or not.
The same steps can also be applied to change Samsung micro SD card serial number and other brands of SD card and hard drives. To change the SD card or other storage devices serial number in Windows Server 2019/2016/2012/2008/2003, you can try AOMEI Partition Assistant Server.
As you see above, AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional is a great serial number editor to change SD card serial number safely without damaging stored data. Additionally, it is compatible with Windows 10/8/7 and Windows XP/Vista (both 32-bit and 64-bit).
A serial number is an identifying code assigned to a piece of hardware. All electronic storage devices, including memory cards, have such a number. If you have reason to change the serial number on your memory card, you will need the VolumeID utility. This free Microsoft program allows you to edit the serial number of any storage device. The changes to your memory card will not be visible until the next time you reboot your computer.
Type the following into the command prompt window: "volumeid driveletter: xxxx-xxxx." Replace "driveletter:" with the drive letter of your memory card. Replace "xxxx-xxxx" with the new serial number. Close the window when you're finished.
So I started buying Samsung SD cards, hoping for one with the same moviNAND core as the eMMC in their phones. I now also have a stack of Samsung SD cards on my desk, but with the last different one I found I struck gold! (Collecting Samsung cards is more expensive than cheap Chinese ones and it takes some effort to avoid getting fakes.) The Samsung EVO Plus 32GB MicroSDHC card took the commands from SamDunk and let me change the CID.
I have taken the SamDunk code and reworked it a little to make it easier to use for SD cards, but all the credit really needs to go to the original author. To use you simply need a rooted Android device with an SD card slot. Copy the evoplus_cid binary to the device and put it somewhere with a proper Linux file system (not FAT), then apply execute permission to it. Run the tool and point it to the SD card device e.g. /dev/block/mmcblk1 (you almost certainly do not want to use mmcblk0, that is likely to be the built-in storage on your device). List the /dev/block folder and make sure the device you going to use appears and disappears as you insert and remove the SD card to be sure. Supply the new CID you want to set on the command line. If you only need to change the card serial number (part of the CID) you can supply the old CID and the new serial number and the new CID will be calculated for you. I suggest you make a note of the old CID first, in case you want to set it back later. This can be found in the file like /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:0001/cid, but the path may vary, and again make sure you are looking at the right card by checking it disappears when you remove the card.
HiDid you recived this card from aliexpress ? And you can change CID number ?If yes please give me full info about model card from barcode, and year production and Made In ?Give me also link to aliexpress.Thanks.

In some versions of Android, and other variants of Linux, it's possible to get the serial number of a mounted SD card, e.g. by reading the contents of /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:0001/serial or /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/serial (specific numbers may vary). In my testing this has worked pretty reliably, as long as the SD card is inserted in a built-in SD card slot (not mounted via USB adapter).
As an FYI to those looking into UUID or volume serial numbers of FAT type volumes under Android: Some Fujifilm cameras, including the X-T30 (Firmware 1.10) do not write a volume serial number into the FAT volume when formatting.
I'm guessing there are two combined problems here:1) Fujifilm is not writing a volume serial number when formatting, and2) Android uses the volume serial number as part of the mount point path, leading to collision.
The Volume Serial Number (also known as VSN) is a unique serial number that is assigned to an optical disk (CD or DVD) or a hard drive after formatting. The Volume Serial Number was added by Microsoft and IBM so that the operating system could recognize if an optical disk or a drive is changed on the system. By that time the only way to determine this, was the volume label (Volume Name) that the user defined to each storage disk. But that way, there was a problem if a user gave the same (Volume) name to two (or more) disks. To bypass this problem, Microsoft and IBM decided to assign a new unique number in hexadecimal form (called 'Volume Serial Number' or 'Volume ID' or 'VSN') when a drive (optical disk or hard drive) was formatted.
Taking advantage of VSN, some software vendors use the Volume Serial Number to avoid pirate copying of their products. This means that software from these vendors can not run if the Volume Serial Number is different from the VSN of the product's original optical disk that was shipped or of the hard drive that the software was first installed. Also this technique was previously used by multiplayer game vendors to ban the gamers that tried to cheat. Nowadays, this method is useless because the game or software vendors now use the hardcoded serial number (HDD Manufacture's S/N that is embedded into the firmware) to identify (ban) cheaters or they ban the CD key.
Program on disk C.CMD Run administrator.cd c:\Volumeid.exe C: 1234-5678Restart.C: 1234-5678 -Disk and new numberReading the number.C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe As a file .batRunning on a changed drive.Write in.vol
It would be better to point out that the volume serial number is a general identifyer for all volumes, not only for a disk and that what you are talking about here, is only the volume serial number of the first volume (partition) of a disk.
hello sir,My name is saurabh gaur and i face the problem when i changed my serial number i got a message that is volumeid is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Please tell me what can i do for change my serial number.please send me the solution ASAP!Thanking you.
The Catalyst 4000 with Supervisor Engine I chassis serial number on the Catalyst 4003, 2948G, and 2980G is not readable through a CLI command. The serial number that appears in the show version command output in the example in this section is the serial number of the Supervisor Engine. The actual serial number appears on a sticker on the outside of the chassis.
On the Catalyst 4500/4000 Supervisor 2, the chassis serial number is available via CLI in versions 5.5(10), 6.3(2), and later versions. In earlier versions, theshow versioncommand shows the Supervisor Engine serial number in the place of the chassis serial number. To obtain the serial number of the chassis in these earlier versions, check the external sticker on the chassis.
Use theshow versioncommand to determine the chassis serial number and switch model type, as the example here shows. You find all switch stack members, chassis, and serial number information in the output:
Hello I would like to be able to read the serial numbers of SD cards using the SD.h library. Only reading the values is enough, I am not looking to modify the CID. This should be possible but I do not have the programming skills to get it running.
The USRP should now be able to communicate on the network (you'll see some LEDs light up and network link be established). The next step is to flash the device and program the serial number. Both these steps can be done with UHD (the JTAG step is complete).
Information about an SD card is encoded in its internal cardregistries. One of these is the Card Identification (CID) Register, a16 byte code that contains information that uniquely identifies the SDcard, including the card serial number (PSN), manufacturer ID number(MID) and manufacture date (MDT). The CID register is set when thecard is manufactured and cannot be changed after it is set. (Accordingto SD card specification the information is only to be written once, however if a card does not conform to the specification thisinformation could be changed!)
Assuming you have the proper hardware, there are several methods youcan use to get the card information. With Linux, reading the internalSD card information is simple. Insert the card and look under/sys/block/mmcblk0/device/ (this location may change depending on yourdevice). You will see several attributes available that include theCID register and the information inside it. 2b1af7f3a8
