@ntm: I am a huge fan of the Dead Space series. This was the best and most pure of the prequels and it was a great improvement over the first two games. Dead Space 2 suffered because it had to cater to the new consoles, the third game suffered because they tried to do too much and not enough. I think Dead Space 3 was a letdown because they tried to cater to the new consoles like the previous games, they tried to put in weird puzzles/mini games and this really did nothing for the game. I think Dead Space 2 was a pretty good sequel as it didn't try to do too much. This game was pure action and survival horror, it was pretty much Dead Space 1, but with the best graphics possible. The atmosphere was really cool, the character interactions were great, the grimy, industrial visuals looked fantastic and the puzzles were simplistic and effective. Best of all, they did something that made sense - there was no way for a human to survive alone in space, so even though the first game was a puzzle, the game was designed to have you be accompanied by an AI friend, so you wouldn't be alone. It was also really cool that you were in control of the suit from the get go, so there was no need for puzzle solving.
Dead Space 3Nathan McNeill, recently promoted to the position of chief detective, has been investigating the disappearance of several miners aboard The Sprawl. While working the case, he meets Ellie Langdon, a young woman suffering from amnesia, who claims she is the daughter of a famous scientist, Kai. Nathan finds out that the missing scientists have been giving interviews to the press, but were interrupted by a rogue Necromorph, which left the halls littered with the corpses of the scientists and the robots they were controlling. It also kills Nathan's partner and the only person able to identify the rogue Necromorph's victim, so he is sent to investigate further, along with the assistance of rookie cop, Sarah Andarsyn.
@ntm: I'm not a big fan of this game. It reminds me of Dead Space 2 only it was worse, with the exception that it wasn't a direct sequel. I'm really not a fan of the first person shooter gameplay in the Dead Space games, but I will acknowledge that a lot of people do like it.
The development team that worked on Dead Space 2 brought a lot of ideas from that game and some new ones. They wanted to bring back the co-op and the various weapons, and add a new feature to the system. The first idea they had was to bring the game into a sci-fi setting. The idea was very similar to what they had in Dead Space 1, but in a more industrial setting.
Living Space: A Study of Theme (Prequel)The idea behind Living Space was to create an environment that represented a normal space station, from a first person perspective. This is something that the developers could never accomplish with a room-based game, such as Resident Evil and Dead Space, because they could never get the player to move around in that fashion. If you were playing Dead Space and you went into a room with a bunch of Necromorphs, you'd just get slaughtered. The developers had the idea that in order to get around this problem, the player could be moving around in normal space, but seeing the environment from below. 827ec27edc
