For a while I was trying to write a funny book. Then I thought that maybe I ought to write a cautionary tale, one that would teach young men a lot about the road they were on. What I ended up with was The Boy Who Would Be King. The story covers a four year period in the life of a young man as he descends into full blown drugs and anorexia, and eventually into a manic episode. It's about a boy who thinks he has everything: a loving family, great wealth, and a brilliant future ahead of him. It's about a boy who has done nothing wrong and who doesn't know what's happened to him.
This is a classic story of a woman who was once in love and lost her love, and then she found love again. It takes place in a restaurant, but it's not a restaurant book! It's very cute, and I didn't feel like I was being preached to. It's a very good book that I could sit and read all day, and even though it's a YA book, it's a story that will touch anyone's life.
Elin Hilderbrand is an author I've recently discovered. Her style is really enjoyable to me (I love when the character's emotions come across) and her books make me want to cook, and eat, and have a glass of wine, and drink wine, and cook, and.... All while reading! This book is part of the Winter series, and I've already read one other. Winter's Elin is the main character in this book, and I loved that she's a chef. I'm not a chef, but I love to cook, and read about it, and this book did it for me.
This book is one of the strongest I've read in a while. I'm really picky when it comes to the language and I found this book to be a joy to read. Elin's next is called The Summer I Turned Pretty, and it looks like it will be out in the summer of 2019.
I like books that are part of a community! The main character in this novel is the youngest of two siblings, Simon, and Marguerite's goddaughter. Simon ends up being a main character in his own right, and I love that these two characters are both incredibly well-developed, and Simon and Marguerite's relationship may have actually been inspired by Marguerite's relationship with her late sister.
I don't know if I'd pick this up if I didn't know it was part of the Winter series. I'm more likely to pick up a new book after I've read others in the series, like I did with Shiver, but I didn't think I'd enjoy this one more since it wasn't so much of an actual story. 827ec27edc
