The opening track on one of the greatest albums of all time, the Grammy-winning Carole King (Tapestry) has become one of the most performed songs of all time. Its four-minute opening track introduces King with a haunting melody. The emotional lyrics show a woman in a relationship with an evil man, who is demanding more and more of her time and attention. She tries to negotiate with him, but he is unmovable. Eventually, she just can not love him anymore. She leaves him, and then the song ends.

The heartfelt ballad, written by guitarist Charlie Larkey, was inspired by the Charlie and his Girl days. It was released on the group's 1995 album, Change It All, and went on to reach No. 1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

Perhaps most significantly, he has performed with Bruce Springsteen on stage. One of the best soul musicians of his generation, his JB's hits include: The Corner (with the E-Street Band), It's About Time (with Leon Huff and Bruce Springsteen), I'm Your Man (with the E-Street Band), Empowered (with Bruce Springsteen), Finer Feelings (with the E-Street Band), and the award winning Freedom (with the E-Street Band). He can be heard on Bruce Springsteen's The Rising, and is featured on the album's singles, State Trooper and When the World Ends.

In 2012, KEM was nominated for the Best Contemporary Soul Album category at the 50th Blues World Awards and was nominated for both Best Contemporary Soul Artist and Best Contemporary Soul Album .
